In a story I wrote about Sonoma State senior pitcher Lindsay Emmel (click here), I mentioned she is superstitious about how the game ball is handled prior to the game.

But that’s not Emmel’s only quirk. Consider:

* Before road games, she must get ready for the game (apply makeup, put on uniform etc.) before she goes to breakfast.

* She has a mix on her iPod that she can only listen to on game days.

* Her five-pitch warm-up between innings always has the same pitches, in the same order: two slow curves, two slow rise balls, one fast rise ball.

* The last two pitches of any warm-up session are a curveball and a rise ball, in that order.
