After winning 13 of their past 17 games, the Seawolves are ranked fifth in the first NCAA West Region poll. They are the second-highest CCAA team, behind first-place Humboldt State.

The top eight teams at the end of the regular season will advance to the NCAA West Regional Tournament. SSU (18-14) advanced to the West Regional in 2007 when it finished 32-32. But the Seawolves went 16-36 last year and have had just one winning season since 1998.
