The Sonoma State softball team is 16-14.

That may not sound like cause for celebration, but it’s a sign of progress in Rohnert Park.

The Seawolves, who went 16-36 last year, have had one winning season since 1998 and none since 2000. SSU did have a 32-32 record in 2007, but its record from 1998-2008 was 230-330-1.

Senior Linday Emmel leads the Seawolves with a 7-5 record and 1.73 ERA. Sophomore outfielder Brittany Martinez leads SSU with a .357 average and 13 RBIs.
