Santa Rosa’s Jake Arnold defended his title last week at the 24th annual USA Indoor Combined Events Championships in Chapel Hill, N.C.

Arnold, 24, a 2012 Olympic hopeful in the decathlon, won with a score of 5,748 points. Justin Johnson (5,514) was second in the nine-man field which competed in the seven-event heptathlon.

Arnold, a two-time NCAA champion at Arizona who attended Maria Carrillo High, was an alternate for the 2008 Summer Olympics.
