Two of the biggest names in high school football this past season, Rancho Cotate offensive lineman Adam Murray and Cardinal Newman running back/linebacker Jeff Badger, appear likely to play at SRJC next season.

The 6-foot-7, 319-pound Murray declined a scholarship offer from Sacramento State this weekend. He plans to play at SRJC in hopes of eventually landing a Division I offer. Murray played right guard in a run-heavy veer offense at Rancho and believes his lack of pass blocking experience kept Division I schools away.

He hopes to play at left or right tackle at SRJC, where he’ll get plenty of experience pass blocking.

“I think I’m capable of playing at a Pac-10 level,” Murray said.

Badger has declined a scholarship offer from the Air Force Academy because he was leery of the five-year, post-college military commitment that came with it. Unless another Division I or Division I-AA school expresses interest, Badger plans to attend SRJC and play outside linebacker next year. He is currently working out at SRJC.
