Santa Rosa Junior College quarterback Adam Froman, who signed with Louisville last month, will have one less competitor in his quest to become the Cardinals’ starting quarterback.

Louisville redshirt sophomore quarterback Matt Simms, the son of former NFL quarterback Phil Simms, has told Cardinal coach Steve Kragthorpe that he is transferring from the program. There is no word on where Simms intends to go.

Simms was the backup to senior quarterback Hunter Cantwell this past season. Froman is expected to compete with juniors Tyler Wolfe and Justin Burke for the starting spot.
