Santa Rosa Junior College middle linebacker Jarred Pereira and offensive tackle Tobin Cameron will sign scholarships today on the early signing day for junior college players.

The 5-foot-11, 245-pound Pereira will sign with Sacramento State, which plays in the Football Championship Subdivision, formerly known as Division I-AA. Pereira, who played at Vintage High in Napa, ranked eighth in the state in tackles with 90 and had 9.5 tackles for loss. He also received offers from Hofstra University, Old Dominion University and North Carolina Central.

“It’s all about first impressions for me,” Pereira said. “And (Sacramento State) was on me since Day 1. They called me every single day and were telling me I was their No. 1 guy.”

The 6-4, 275-pound Cameron, a former star at Healdsburg High, will sign with Old Dominion, an FCS school in Norfolk, Va. The Monarchs will be playing their first season of football in 2009. Cameron was an all-Big 8 Conference pick and all-Region I selection.
