Sophomore striker Niki Poole has been named the Big 8 Conference Player of the Year and freshman defender Cat Barnekow has been named the Big 8 Defensive Player of the Year after leading the Bear Cubs to a 24-3-1 record and into the California Community College state-title game.

Poole (Casa Grande) and Barnekow (Santa Rosa) were also among 11 players named to the All-West Region team with Barnekow being the only freshman on the team. Poole scored a team-high 24 goals and Barnekow anchored a defense that allowed 0.61 goals a game.

Other all-Big 8 selections included defender Lea DeLuca (Analy), goalkeeper Adrienne Goguen (Casa Grande), midfielder Alesha Laranjo (Piner), defender Clara Saguto (Analy) and midfielder Kora Wood (El Molino).

SRJC coach Emiria Salzmann was named the West Region Coach of the Year and the Big 8 co-Coach of the Year.
