After a humbling loss to Butte College, the Santa Rosa Junior College football team arrived ultra-focused for its 44-7 win against Foothill College, then the state’s fourth-ranked team, on Saturday.

In almost laughably sloppy field conditions, the Bear Cubs committed two penalties and didn’t have a turnover until the fourth quarter.

Yes, SRJC wasn’t in the mood for mistakes.

Even from their mascot.

In the second half, a referee notified the Bear Cubs coaches about people on SRJC’s sideline yelling at Foothill players.

With that, the coaching staff instructed every person not in uniform to leave the sidelines. Even the fuzzy Bear Cub mascot.

“Mascot, get in the stands,” SRJC defensive coordinator Lenny Wagner said. “Beat it.”

I thought this was rather amusing.
