The Santa Rosa Junior College soccer teams began practicing today at Trione Fields, where they will play the rest of their home games this season.

The Bear Cubs are making the move while their grass field on campus is replaced with a synthetic surface. The mid-season move isn’t ideal ” the coaches and players will have to commute, which could make it difficult for players to get taped and treated before a 1 p.m. practice.

In addition, both Bear Cubs’ programs appeared to have enjoyed their home field just fine this season.

The men’s team, state runner-ups last year, is 8-0-1. The women’s team is 7-1-1 with its only loss coming against Cerritos, the defending state champions.

“We can choose to look at it as an inconvenience or we can choose to just look at it as something we have to deal with,” SRJC women’s coach Emiria Salzmann said. “As with everything in life, it depends on your perspective.”
