The Santa Rosa Junior College football team is ranked No. 8 in the  California Community College Football Coaches Association Preseason Top 25 poll.
The Bear Cubs, who went 8-3 last year, are one of five teams in the six-team NorCal Conference in the top 25: Defending state champion Butte is No. 1, San Francisco is No. 7, Foothill is No. 12 and San Mateo is No. 25.
Butte, which went 12-0 last year, the only undefeated season among th nation’s 142 junior college teams, received 12 of 15 first-place votes.
SRJC, which is ranked No. 4 in Northern California, opens the season Sept. 5 at 2 p.m. against visiting Reedley.
