Sunday’s meeting between Sonoma State and Cal State Los Angeles was shaping up as a battle of unbeatens until both teams lost on Friday.
Still, the 2 p.m. meeting in Rohnert Park should be plenty intrguing.
The Seawolves, ranked seventh in the nation, enter with a 10-1-2 record and CSU L.A., ranked No. 1 nationally, has a 11-1-1 record after a 3-0 loss to Humboldt State on Friday.
The Golden Eagles will also arrive with a pair of former Empire stars in senior defenders Mickey Daly and Arthur Bahr.
Daly, who played at Sonoma Valley, was an All-American at Santa Rosa Junior College and was a second-team All-West Region pick at CSULA last year. Bahr played at Cardinal Newman and SRJC and made 15 starts for the Golden Eagles last year.

Eric Branch’s blog focuses on Sonoma State, Santa Rosa Junior College and former Empire athletes who are competing in college or professionally.
