Three games and three wins – including a no-hitter – marked a stellar start for Sonoma State University pitcher Samantha Lipperd.

The Boulder Creek freshman’s breakout performance has earned her Worth/California Collegiate Athletic Association Pitcher of the Week honors.

In three appearances, Lipperd has a 3-0 record and a 1.50 earned run average over 14 innings of work.

Last week she became the first Sonoma State softball player since 2001 to throw a no-hitter, leading the Seawolves to a 9-0 victory over Notre Dame de Namur. Lipperd also picked up another win over the Argonauts and earlier pitched a complete game victory against Cal State Stanislaus.

A 5 foot 8 right hander, Lipperd attended San Lorenzo Valley High School, in the Santa Cruz Mountains town of Felton.

Sonoma State is 4-2 on the young season. The Seawolves open conference play with a pair of doubleheaders at Cal State Dominguez Hills, in Carson on Friday and Saturday.
