Facing another season of great expectations, Sonoma State baseball coach John Goelz will discuss the Seawolves and his 25 year career with the university at “The Coach’s Corner” talk on Wednesday.

The program begins at noon in Room 102 of Darwin Hall, on the Rohnert Park campus. There is no cost.

Runners up in last year’s NCAA Division II West Regional, the Seawolves are picked to finish second in the very competitive California Collegiate Athletic Association this season. Sonoma State lost in the regional final to UC San Diego, picked to finish first in the CCAA this season.

In Goelz’ 25 years at the helm of Sonoma State’s baseball program, the Seawolves have won nine conference titles and gone to the NCAA West Regional 10 times, including a third place finish in the 2008 Division II College World Series.

Goelz is the fourth coach to meet the public to discuss Sonoma State intercollegiate athletic programs. Men’s soccer coach Marcus Ziemer, men’s basketball coach Pat Fuscaldo, and women’s basketball coach Mark Rigby were past speakers.
