Finding her range at Sonoma State, former All-Empire forward Aly Henington is helping lead the Seawolves early in the college basketball season.

The Maria Carrillo and Santa Rosa Junior College graduate is second in scoring for Sonoma State with 11 points a game. Henington is making half her three point shot attempts and is a top free throw shooter.

In the Seawolves league win over Cal State East Bay on Sunday, Henington scored 8 points as Sonoma State evened its record at 4-4 on the season, 2-2 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association.

A 5 foot 10 junior, Henington was second team All-Empire at Maria Carrillo for the 2006-07 season.

Henington played two seasons for Santa Rosa Junior College. Last year, she helped Santa Rosa to the California women’s junior college final four, the Bear Cubs first appearance since 1988. Henington was third on the team in rebounds and blocks and scored more than 6 points a game.

After a Christmas break, the Sonoma State women are back in action Dec. 30, traveling to play UC San Diego in a CCAA contest. The Seawolves are back home Jan. 2 against Humboldt State.
