Tossing 15 shutout innings to help Sonoma State open league play with four wins, Samantha Lipperd has been named the Worth/CCAA Softball Pitcher of the Week.
Lipperd also struck out 23 Cal State East Bay batters to win both starts as the Seawolves improved to 7-2 overall and 4-0 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association.
The sophomore from Boulder Creek threw all ten innings in Friday’s opener of a doubleheader, retiring the first 21 batters she faced. Her 15 strikeouts in the contest tied a school-record for most strikeouts in a game. On Saturday, Lipperd pitched five shutout innings and struck out 8. She has struck out 43 of the 91 batters she has faced.
