For the second time this season, Sonoma State softball pitcher Samantha Lipperd was named the Worth/California Collegiate Athletic Association Softball Pitcher of the Week.

Lipperd threw her third career no-hitter in a win over Cal State Stanislaus and the next day pitched a complete game victory over the Warriors. The sophomore also went the distance in a win over Academy of Art on the week.

“Sam is proving week after week that her hard work over the last year and a half has paid off,” said Sonoma State coach Jennifer Bridges. “Her consistency is unmatched with her composure, control and movement. It is so fun to watch her on the mound and I am so proud of the pitcher she has become.”

The right-hander from Boulder Creek is 11-3 this season with a 0.68 ERA in 92 innings pitched. She leads the conference in strikeouts with 137 and opponents are hitting just .121 against her. Lipperd is 6-0 with a 0.17 ERA and 59 strikeouts in 42 innings pitched over her last six starts.

Sonoma State is 18-9 overall and 14-6 in conference play. But the Seawolves haven’t played in 10 days with the past five games rained out. Next up is a non-conference doubleheader with Western Washington on March 30 at Sonoma State, starting at 1 p.m.
