Seeking a crowd boost for the stretch run, the Santa Rosa Junior College basketball teams hope to pack Haehl Pavilion for Saturday’s conference contests with Diablo Valley College.
The evening opens with the Bear Cubs women in a 5:30 p.m. contest. Santa Rosa is tied for the Big 8 Conference lead, 17-6 overall and 8-1 in league play. The Bear Cubs are ranked sixth in Northern California and 14th in the state.
Following that game is the men’s contest at 7:30 p.m. Santa Rosa leads the Big 8 Conference with an overall record of 20-4 and 9-0 in league play. The Bear Cubs are ranked third in Northern California and fifth in the state.
The games are billed as “Pack the Den Night.” The school will give away prizes throughout the evening. A dash for cash is set for halftime of the men’s game, when fans chosen in a drawing will have thirty seconds to grab all the one dollar bills they can from out on the basketball court.
Tickets are $6 for general admission, $4 for students with identification, $2 for seniors and children. Military veterans and their guests are free. Parking is $4.
