Steady shooting over three days has earned Sonoma State golfer Spencer Heller a spot in the NCAA Division II women’s finals.

The Seawolves’ low scorer on the season was even better at the NCAA Division II Women’s Super Regional where she shared individual medalist honors.

Heller shot a final round 73 to move up from third place in the nine-team tournament at The Wigwam in Litchfield Park, Ariz.

A junior from Turlock, Heller shot a 69 in the first round of the regional and a 75 the next day. Two strokes better in the final round, Heller tied for the top with Katy Ward of Tarleton State.

The fourth medalist finish for Heller on the season was her biggest. Only the top three individuals not on teams qualifying for the national championships advanced to the finals. Sonoma State did not advance.

Heller’s average for the tournament was three strokes better than her season scoring average of 75. Heller is shooting just 3-over par for the season.

The NCAA finals run Sunday through May 18 at Persimmon Ridge Golf Course in Louisville, Ky.
