Leading the Santa Rosa Junior College baseball team to the state playoffs were four all-conference players.
Earning first team honors in the Big 8 Conference were pitcher Jason Alexander and outfielder Dalton Johnson. Both infielder Nick Rodda and outfielder Siosi Poti earned second team honors.
Alexander was a Bear Cubs ace. The right hander from Cardinal Newman high was fourth in the conference in strikeouts and averaged more than 7 a game. Alexander had a 2.29 earned run average and threw a pair of complete games.
The Bear Cubs top batter for average was Jonson, hitting .337 on the season. The former Petaluma high standout was third on the team with 14 runs batted in.
Rodda, from Piner high, was Santa Rosa’s top run producer with 20 batted in to go with team highs of 47 hits and 9 doubles.
The speedy Poti, out of Rancho Cotate high, led Santa Rosa with 9 steals and was second with 42 hits on the season.
Santa Rosa finished 23-15 in 2012 after dropping a first round state playoff series to Diablo Valley College. The Bear Cubs were ranked eighth in Northern California.
