Finishing at the top of her game, Sonoma State golfer Spencer Heller was named to the NCAA Division II All-American Team and also gained a spot on the Academic All-District Team.

On the men’s side, Alex Marry recently was named All-Conference after a strong season for the Seawolves.

For the third consecutive year, the National Golf Coaches Association picked Heller as one of the nation’s top women collegiate players. Heller joins seven other Division II golfers on the Division II First Team All-America squad. She was Honorable Mention as both a freshman and a sophomore.

Heller’s academic award – named to the Capital One Division II Academic All-District Team — recognizes top college student athletes and puts her in contention for national honors.

A junior from Turlock, she capped a great season by sharing individual medalist honors at the NCAA Division II Women’s Super Regional to earn a spot in the national championships. Making her third appearance in the finals, Heller finished eighth at Persimmon Ridge Golf Course in Louisville, Ky.

Already the Seawolves career leader in stroke average, Heller shot even better this season, averaging 75.2 per round. Four of Heller’s five career tournament wins came this season.

Also a junior, Marry was named to the California Collegiate Athletic Association All-Conference team for the first time.

Marry, a junior from San Clemente, averaged 75.2 scoring this season.
