A record-setting season has earned Sonoma State softball pitcher Samantha Lipperd a spot on the Daktronics, Inc. Division II All-American second team.
Lipperd, the West Region and California Collegiate Athletic Association Pitcher of the Year, was All-American Honorable Mention as a sophomore last season.
The award is given by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association.
The right-hander from Boulder Creek struck out a NCAA Div. II best 396 batters, including a Div. II single game record of 26 in a March tournament contest.
Lipperd finished her junior campaign 31-12 with a 1.24 earned-run average, both among national leaders.
On the season, Lipperd set a dozen SSU softball pitching records. Among the highlights are a 78-29 career record, 862 strikeouts, lowest opponent batting average (.180) and 81 complete games.
