Santa Rosa JC placed two volleyball players among California’s best entering the state final four.

Olivia Urban earned All-America recognition in addition to All-State and NorCal honors. Urban, an outside hitter from San Marin High in Novato, was most valuable player in the Big 8 Conference.

Also a NorCal selection was Kaitlyn Dunaway. The outside hitter from Petaluma High was a first-team Big 8 selection.

Santa Rosa placed two other players on conference teams. Kristyn Casalino, a middle blocker from Maria Carrillo High, was a first team selection. Kiana Cassidy, a setter from Rancho Cotate, was honorable mention.

Winning a third consecutive crown in one of California’s toughest conferences, Santa Rosa has won three playoff matches for a return to the state final four this weekend.

Santa Rosa was runner-up in the past two California Community College Athletic Association title matches. The Bear Cubs also fell in the 2008 championship contest.
