Posting the nation’s top small college saves percentage capped a standout season for Megan Herring, the former Montgomery high standout now at Dominican University.
Herring was All-Empire at Montgomery and continues to sharpen her goalkeeping for Dominican, an NCAA Division II school, in San Rafael.
In her junior season, Herring made 111 saves and only allowed 11 goals in 16 games. That .910 saves percentage was best in NCAA Division II for the 2012 season. Herring recorded six shutouts this season.
“Being number one in save percentage is a great honor and I had so much fun this season,” she said. “But the real honor should go to my team and my back line.”
Herring was a second team all-league pick in the Pacific West Conference. She helped lead Dominican to a 7-7-3 overall record and 6-5-3 in the Pac West.
