Sonoma State swept conference softball honors with the Seawolves ranked among the nation’s best.
Megan Konieczka was named Worth/California Collegiate Athletic Association player of the week and Amanda Llerena earned conference pitcher of the week honors.
A junior centerfielder from Lake Forest, Konieczka had six hits in 11 at bats, including a double, a triple and a home run, as well as four runs batted in a four game sweep of Cal State Stanislaus this past weekend.
From San Jose, the freshman Llerena won both her starts against Stanislaus. She allowed just eight hits and three walks, in addition to striking out 24 batters, over 14 innings. Llerena raised her record to 10-5 with a 1.98 earned run average and 86 strikeouts this season.
Llerena also was a conference pitcher of the week in February.
This is the first career CCAA player award for Konieczka. Three other Seawolves softball standouts have received the honor this season: Ali Palermo; Ancia Purdy: and Holli Brown.
Sonoma State is 25-8 overall and 18-6 in conference play. The Seawolves are ranked 16th in NCAA Division II.
Sonoma State is back in action Thursday against Western Washington at Stanislaus, and plays in the Stanislaus tournament this weekend. The Seawovles return home for an April 19-20 series with Chico State.
