Empire prep cross country standouts competing in the college ranks finished strong seasons.

Here are the 2013 cross country season highlights:

–Sarah Sumpter, UC Davis senior, Healdsburg high: NCAA Div. I West Regional 30th; Big West championships 8th.

–Reesey Byers, Sacramento State senior, Santa Rosa high: NCAA Div. I West Regional 24th; Big Sky Championships 24th

–Alex Conner, Yale sophomore, Sonoma Valley high: NCAA Div. 1 Northeast Regional 57th; Ivy League Heptagonal Championships 26th

–Brian King, Georgetown, senior, Cardinal Newman: NCAA Div. 1 Mid-Atlantic Regional 13th; BIG EAST Championships 13th

–Paul Holden, Connecticut, freshman, Ukiah high: NCAA Div. 1 Northeast Regional 93rd; American Athletic Conference Championships 29th

–Forrest Shaffer, Washington State sophomore, Petaluma high: : NCAA Div. I West Regional 53rd; Pac-12 Championships 47th

–Daniel Hauptman, UC San Diego, junior, Maria Carrillo: NCAA Div. II West Regional 122nd; CCAA Championships 25th

–Ben Tarango, Humboldt State, sophomore, Casa Grande: NCAA Div. II West Regional 52nd; CCAA Championships 36th

–Harrison Luft, Occidental, freshman, Maria Carrillo: NCAA Div. III West Regional 97th; SCIAC Championships 23rd
