Louisville quarterback Adam Froman, a former star at Maria Carrillo and Santa Rosa Junior College, said he will begin light throwing today as he begins to come back from a back injury that has sidelined him for about two weeks.
Froman, a junior, was in a battle with Justin Burke for the starting job at Louisville. On Tuesday, Cardinals coach Steve Kragthrope announced Burke would start the opener against Indiana State on Sept. 5.
“It’s pretty hard for something to happen three weeks before the start of the season that’s out of your control,” Froman said. “It’s pretty hard to bite that bullet.”
Froman’s injury has been described as a pulled muscle in his upper back. He said it might have occured from too much throwing. He doesn’t have an exact timetable for his return, but hopes to be available, if needed, for the season opener.
