Sonoma State sophomore point guard Ashley Arnott is expected to play next season after undergoing offseason surgery for a back injury.

Arnott, from Australia, sat out last year after injuring his back in an exhibition against the University of Arizona. Arnott, who has two bulging discs, undwerent microscopic surgery in March. SSU coach Pat Fuscaldo said doctors told Arnott he could be full recovered in five or six months.

Fuscaldo says Arnott, who will start if healthy, has the potential to rank among the top point guards during his 15-year tenure at SSU.
