Petaluma’s Sam Banister is having a memorable senior season at the University of Arizona, which is 32-8 and ranked No. 9 in the NFCA Top 25.

Banister entered the week hitting .358 with nine homers and 34 RBIs. She is tied for sixth in the Pac-10 in homers, ranks ninth in RBIs and slugging percentage and is 17th in batting average.

In a 9-2 win at No. 7 UCLA today, she went 1 for 3 with a two-run single.

Banister, a four-year starter, has played first base, second base and outfield during her career, which has included two national titles. She hit .250 with 10 homers and 28 RBIs last year.
