Completing another strong wrestling season, Santa Rosa Junior College took ninth at the state championships led by three medalists.

Santa Rosa finished higher than the Bear Cubs statewide 15th ranking going into the California Community College Athletic Association championships at San Joaquin Delta College in Stockton.

The top medalist for Santa Rosa was Aaron Pen-Kruger with fourth place in the 133 pound weight class. The sophomore from Albany went 4-2 at the meet, good enough to also earn All-American honors.

In the 157 pound class Daniel Larman finished sixth. The freshman, also from Albany, split his six matches at the meet.

A strong start helped Isai Guzman finish eighth, the final medalist position at each weight. The Windsor freshman wrestled at 174 pounds.

Coming off a good finish NorCal Regional Tournament the Bear Cubs qualified seven wrestlers for the state championships. The others were: Robert Smith, 125, San Marin; Logan Fore, 133, Windsor High; Kenji Gutierrez, 141, Saint Helena High; and Kaden Martin, 165, Eureka.
