Winners of five straight, Sonoma State moved up seven spots to 14th in the National Fastpitch Coaches Association Division II softball poll on Wednesday.

With a four game sweep of San Francisco State over the weekend, the Seawolves clinched a berth in the California Collegiate Athletic Association championship tournament.

First the Seawolves want to win the regular season conference title for the first time in school history, assuring a berth in the NCAA West Regionals. At 37-12 and 23-9 in conference play, the Seawolves have a two game lead in the CCAA.

Sonoma State entered the national polls five weeks ago and rose to 12th before falling back after losing their only series of the year, to Cal State San Bernardino. The Seawolves followed with their fourth winning streak of five games or more – the longest is eight straight victories – this season.

Sonoma State hosts Humboldt State for a pair of doubleheaders to close out league play Friday and Saturday.

Prior to Saturday’s action, five seniors will be honored: Janelle Arnold, Simone Brandalise, Ashley Britton, Carli Feuerbach and Nikki Jaime.
